Oregon\u2019s\u00a0Division of Financial Regulation\u00a0has the authority to accept and investigate complaints by consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Filing a consumer complaint can be done on the Division\u2019s website and is an easy process. The website includes a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sbs.naic.org\/solar-web\/pages\/public\/onlineComplaintForm\/onlineComplaintForm.jsf?state=or&amp;dswid=-4269\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fillable form<\/a>&nbsp;that asks some basic questions about the insurance at issue. It then asks for a description of the issues, and for the insured\u2019s thoughts on what would constitute a fair resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Division, most complaints are resolved within 60 days. The Division states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Once we receive a complaint, an advocate will:<\/p><p>\u2022 Let you know in writing that we received your complaint<\/p><p>\u2022 Send a copy of your complaint to the insurance company, agent, or both<\/p><p>\u2022 Obtain a detailed response from the company, agent, or both<\/p><p>\u2022 Analyze the response and any supporting documents (the company or agent must respond within three weeks)<\/p><p>\u2022 Determine whether more information is needed or there is a possible violation<\/p><p>\u2022 Advise you of our findings.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Division\u2019s website also cautions as to what it can and cannot do in response to a compliant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.propertyinsurancecoveragelaw.com\/files\/2019\/05\/oregonblurb-669x366.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23341\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Oregon also offers a neat tool on its website for searching to find complaint comparable to yours.<sup>1<\/sup>&nbsp;If you find that your insurance company is treating many customers the same way, you may be able to use that as leverage against your insurance company or with the Division to get extra help.
