But beyond these crucial measures, leaders and risk managers should not overlook the opportunities that arise from these challenging situations to \u201cbuild back better\u201d and reduce the impact of the next catastrophic event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cbuild back better\u201d approach, initially spotlighted during the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/reliefweb.int\/report\/indonesia\/build-back-better-has-worked-aceh-unicef\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Aceh, Indonesia reconstruction after the 2004 tsunami<\/a>, emphasizes restoring communities and assets in a way that reduces vulnerability to disasters and strengthens resilience. Successful recovery and reconstruction demand stakeholder commitment, strong institutional frameworks, and integration of disaster risk reduction measures.
