Executive Order Adjusting Imports of Aluminum into The United States<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 11, 2025, in an executive order titled\u00a0Adjusting Imports of Aluminum into the United States<\/em><\/a>, President Trump increased, from 10% to 25%, the ad valorem tariff rate<\/a> on imports of aluminum and aluminum-derivative articles from most countries. The tariff rate on imports of aluminum from Russia will be 200%. President Trump cited national security grounds as the reason for the tariff increases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive order also ended previous exemptions on these imports for allies such as Argentina, Australia, Mexico, Canada, the EU, and the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tariffs begin on March 12, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President stated that these actions aim \u201cto protect America\u2019s steel and aluminum industries, which have been harmed by unfair trade practices and global excess capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
